Did you know that Federal and State Rebates can pay up to 50% of your solar system?
YES! When you combine the savings from both State Rebates and Federal Tax Credits it's possible to get a solar system of your own to virtually replace the power company for about 1/2 the cost.
So how does it all work?
Understanding the CSI - State Rebate
First, California set aside $2 billion to credit homeowners who purchase and install qualified solar systems on their homes between 2007 and 2016. This program is commonly referred to as the California Solar Initiative, or CSI.
Initially they forecasted that the CSI funds would be available through the end of the rebate period, however because of solars mass adoption by the masses, these rebates appear to be running their course much more quickly.
When this all started in 2007, the CSI program would pay up to $2.50 per AC watt. By 2009 this incentive dropped from $2.50 per AC watt to a range of $1.10 to $1.90 per AC watt depending on the location of your home and your typical electrical consumption. Today though incentives are down $0.65 per AC watt and they are about to drop again to $0.35 per AC watt.
Of course, these state incentives vary city by city and power company by power company. If you are not a Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas and Electric or Pacific Gas and Electric customer, you may be eligible for an even larger incentive.
